In his book The Architecture of Northern England, John Martin Robinson
writes :
"It is a considerable surprise to find this
vast, proud Church of St Augustine in the little town of Hedon. But once
upon a time Hedon was a port to rival Hull, and in the Middle ages as
three times its present size. The Church, larger than the largest of the
East Anglian wool churches, is a monument to this long vanished prosperity.".

Now this magnificent church, which has borne witness to the Christian faith
down the ages and continues to proclaim that faith today, is eight centuries
old. The English climate has taken its toll and a complete restoration of the
tower, windows, stonework and roofwork is desperately needed, so that St Augustine's
can continue to stand for many years to come.
We also need to redevelop the interior of the church to provide toilets, kitchen, meeting room and office in order to make St. Augustine's not only a centre of Christian worship but also be a centre of teaching and culture which will be of benefit to the town and the surrounding area.
That is why we need £4 million.
Will you please help us in our task?
